BRIEF
The brief was to create a beautiful, inviting and elegant living space to come home to after an intense day at work, to completely redecorate the apartment, renovate the bathroom and en-suite and to create a warm and luxurious master bedroom on the mezzanine floor

OUTCOME
Sandra created an elegant timeless apartment, incorporating beautiful cream furniture with blue accessories. Bespoke furniture was designed by Sandra to complete the clients vision. This project is nominated for an international interior design award with Design et al in the UK.

D for Design Interior Design crafted a beautiful, inviting and elegant living space for a Wellington Inner city apartment incorporating beautiful cream furniture with blue accessories. Bespoke furniture was designed by Sandra to complete the clients vision. This project is nominated for an international interior design award with Design et al in the UK.

For this luxury Wellington (NZ) apartment D for Design Interior Design collaborated with the talented NZ artist Jane Mason to make two amazing statement pieces of art one large canvas painting that enhance the colour palette of the interior design beautifully and a delicate gold leaf sculpture. Both pieces have completed the apartment to perfection.

Each interior design project comes with its own challenges.
This Wellington inner-city apartment has really high ceiling with a mezzanine floor.
Creating the right proportional balance was the first challenge. Getting the large pieces of furniture to create that balance to the first floor of the apartment building and into the apartment was the second challenge.
A lot needs to be considered when designing an apartment and logistics is a big part of it.
However, there is always a solution to be found and D for Design Interior Design managed to get it done!

At D for Design Interior Design, we are masters in coming up with creative solutions to architectural challenges.

In this fabulous apartment we had to work with exposed pipes, beams and boxed in electrical cables creating tricky voids and unusual spaces.
We had to find a way of making the most of these spaces.

For the master bedroom on the mezzanine floor we create a large luxurious headboard with velvety blue wallpaper to celebrate the void below the boxed in overhead space that couldn’t be removed. We used LED lighting and accent lighting to accentuate and celebrate these unusual features rather than trying to hide it.

In the ensuite we made the space look as large as possible with the use of large format tiles and LED up and down light and integrating a custom designed piece of furniture in otherwise a useless space.

The combination of the elegant interior decor and the industrial architectural features have created a unique style with a real ‘wow’ factor.

Mirrors are naturally used for practical purposes, such as getting ready in the bathroom or bedroom.

Besides being functional mirrors can enhance the space and make your home look larger than it is, spread the light and adequately illuminate the area.

Mirrors add depth, make a statement, bring balance to a room and add a lot of flair.
